My athletic goal is:
Hi, my name is Kimberly Slider. I am 19 years old and I live in Singapore. I am a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu who trains under many amazing black belts in Evolve MMA, Singapore. I was given my blue belt by my professors Leandro 'Brodinho' Issa and Almiro Barros.
I started BJJ when I was 15 years old and started competing a few months later. In the past couple of years, I have managed to achieve 20 medals. I have competed and done well in some of Asia's biggest tournaments such as the Pan Asians, the International Open as well as the IBJJF Asian Open. I train 6 days a week, twice a day of BJJ and once a day of strength & conditioning.
I will be competing as a blue belt in the IBJJF World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships which will be held from the 27th to the 31st of May, 2015 in Long Beach, California and I need your help to get me there to my dream. Ever since I started, it has been my dream to become world champion and to one day be one of the top ranked BJJ athletes. My biggest BJJ idols are Bia Mesquita, Monique Elias and Mackenzie Dern and my dream is to one day be on the same level as they are. BJJ is something that I want to do for the rest of my life and one day, compete professionally and make a career out of it. BJJ has made me a better person physically, emotionally and mentally. It has helped me find who I am and I know for a fact that this is what I love to do.
Travelling to the states and training for the worlds is very costly, especially for someone as who lives as far as me from California - on the other side of the world. I will be spending a total of 4 weeks in California, 3 weeks training in San Diego and 1 week competition in Long Beach.
I will be using the funds for:
1. Round-trip plane ticket
2. Food for 4 weeks
3. Accommodation for 4 weeks
4. Transport for 4 weeks
5. Training for 3 weeks in San Diego, California
6. Competition fees
Your contribution means:
I will be needing as much help as I can get from all of you out there who believe in me and my dreams as much as I do. Your contribution would mean the world to me and I will be always grateful and thankful.
Any amount contributed would be much appreciated and your belief in me would mean the world to me. I will work very hard and give nothing less than my 100% and best in the hopes that I can bring back a gold this year, and chase my dreams. This will only be the beginning.
I would like to thank all of you in advance for endless support and always believing in me.
Oss!
