Hello. My name is Jessica McNeill, and I am a 20 year old full time student in the Neuroscience and Mental Health program at Carleton University. When I first started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu nearly thirteen years ago, I
never realized how much it would impact and change my life. The more I
trained, the more I fell in love with the sport, and the more it became a
huge part of my life. In the last six years, I started to take my BJJ more seriously and began training 20 hours a week. Since then I have competed in countless number of tournaments throughout Canada and the United States. In 2011, I went to the IBJJF World Championships for the first time, where I won the Juvenile Blue Belt female light weight division. The following year I competed again as a juvenile, this time finishing second in the blue belt middle division and second in the blue belt female juvenile absolute division. For the past two years I have competed as an adult in the blue belt division, even placing second in feather weight division and bronze in the absolute division at the 2013 No-Gi PanAms. In 2014 at the IBJJF World Championships, I finished in the top 16, after close match with the eventual bronze medalist. This year I have moved up to the purple belt division, and am looking forward to competing at the 2015 IBJJF World Championships.
