Join my journey to Gold!

Hello everyone!

My name is Nazri Sutari, a national kickboxing athlete in Singapore. As soon as 2025 begins, I will be preparing for 5 international WAKO Kickboxing tournaments, as well as the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, if I am selected.

Since I started my kickboxing journey in 2019, all my trips have been self-funded. I have devoted the past 5 years representing Singapore and achieving many firsts for the nation. While my journey has been gruelling, it has also been fulfilling. The love and support that I have received from my family and friends has kept me going strong.

A Rude Awakening

At the start of 2024, my academy dwindled to 3 students. It was a stinging reality check. My time overseas has impacted my kickboxing coaching academy badly, my source of income. I spent the better half of 2023 overseas so focused on competing that I neglected my students in the process.

Funnily at the same time, my 3 year old nephew started talking to me, a strange moment because just a few months ago I remember him babbling away, unable to speak clearly. I also noticed my aging mother struggling to cook and manage daily activities of life, and that was when I knew what I had to do.

It was a harsh reminder that so much time has passed when I was away. It was time for me to step back from competitions, to focus on my career and spend time with my family.

A Fulfilling Year

I spent the entire 2024 in Singapore. While I missed training and competing overseas, the time in our Red Dot has been extremely fulfilling. The most memorable moment was being able to spend Hari Raya with family, which I’ve missed dearly.

I picked up cooking from my mum, learning generational recipes and even started a small catering business (it’s busy mostly during festive seasons). My family and friends tell me that I’m not that bad of a cook, which surprised me.

Using my kickboxing coaching talents, I have also been active in engaging the community by volunteering in various outreach programs and grassroots development. I was able to coach my students throughout the entire year and am proud of their progress. Coaching and giving back to the community have allowed me to focus on others instead of self, giving me deep fulfilment and happiness.

Financing the Journey

I make a living doing what I love - coaching. This means that while I am in Europe for mostly the entire year, I will lose my income and will have to depend on my savings. While I am in Singapore, I have been working and saving up for this upcoming camp. However, I worry I won't have enough to sustain my journey.

I need your support so that I can continue training full-time and do my best for Singapore internationally and at the World Championships. I hope that you can support my dream as I fight on to be the nation's first WAKO Kickboxing World Champion.

From 2021 to 2023, I have achieved so many milestones in my kickboxing career with your help:

·       The first Singaporean gold medallist in WAKO Ring Discipline;

·       The first Singaporean to place 5th in WAKO World Championships, narrowly losing a medal;

·       The only kickboxer to Singapore in Kickboxing for 2021 and 2023 SEA Games;

·       5 international WAKO Kickboxing medals;

·       Top in Asia and Southeast Asia for selected WAKO Disciplines from 2022 to 2023.

Every single one of you made a significant impact in my life, which allowed me to succeed. If it weren’t for all your support, I wouldn’t have been able to venture out into the international stage to compete and make all these achievements.

For 2025, these are the competitions that I will be preparing for:

1.       WAKO European Cup Bosnia Grand Prix ($6,000)

2.       Thailand World Cup ($2,000)

3.       Balkan Open International Kickboxing Cup ($3,500)

4.       2025 WAKO World Championship ($3,500)

5.       2025 SEA Games, if selected

To be my best physically, mentally and technically, I will have to train and prepare with the best athletes and coaches in the world. I will be heading back to Serbia to train with Aleksandr Topic and Topic Team, one of the best WAKO Ring coaches in the world.

The total estimated cost for my training camps is $15,000. This amount will cover my flights, accommodation, food, training fees, medical examinations, equipment and competition fees.

I would like to personally reward each of your contributions, big or small. I want to ensure that I'm not just asking you for money but offering you what I can to the best of my abilities. I've set up a tiered-reward system that's tagged to an amount, so be sure to claim the reward! (when I'm back in Singapore)

Any contribution, big or small, is really appreciated. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, sincerely. If you would like to contribute an amount which is not indicated in the list or would like to donate to me directly, do drop me an email or send me a Instagram / Facebook / WhatsApp message.

I am currently a national kickboxing for Singapore. I'm a WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organization) Kickboxing medalist in both Ring (bronze) and Tatami (silver and bronze).
