My name is Juaisca Rodriguez, former Paralympic Swimmer and currently a para-triathlete in the USA. Eighteen years after a double amputation, I returned to sports in 2013, I was recruited for Venezuelan Paralympic Team. Ten months later I started to swim again, I participated in my first international race: First Para South American Games Santiago 2014, in Chile. Next year, in 2015, I participated in ParaPaAmerican Games Toronto 2015, in Canada, where I broke a ParaPanAm record in the 50 butterfly. In 2016, I participated in several international competitions: ADEMI Tenerife 2016, winning the trophy as the best swimmer in the category S7; Catalunya Natació Adaptada Open, Barcelona, Spain; Copa Caixa Test Rio 2016, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For the Paralympics Games in Rio. For the Games in Rio 2016, I made six marks in: 50 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and the 200 IM, but I wasn't sent to the Paralympic Games because I wasn't part of the political party governing Venezuela.
Looking forward to saving my Life, new possibilities and seeking to improve training conditions to achieve my goals, I stayed in the USA in 2017 when the conditions and safety in Venezuela worsened because of a intestine war. Now I’m training in Triathlon, in El Paso, Tx, USA. I have competed in local races, Eagle in the Sun Triathlon, 2017 and Mighty Mujer 2018/2019. I have raced in Paratriathlon National Championships 2019, Los Angeles, CA, thereI got 2nd place overall in PC Open Category (Paratriathlon Challenged Open).
In the next two years, 2023 and 24, there will be important races in both national and international Level in Paratriathlon. These races will allow me to gain a position in the national and international ranking in order to be able to compete in the official circuit for elite athletes and, if the Paralympic Committee allows me to join the Refugee Athlete Team, I'm striving to be in Paris 24. To fulfill this purpose, I'm looking for sponsors and donations to cover fees due to registration, flights and accommodation, and also to update equipment and adapted equipment.
