Biography
It has been five years since a British athlete competed at the World Championships and two years since British Fencing made the decision to cut the Epee program and decimate funding for its up and coming athletes. I'm going to try to change this.
I am currently on the British Epee team with the opportunity to fence and compete all over the world. Having gone to my first Grand-Prix in Doha, Qatar this month, setting a good benchmark for future events with a clear view of how to improve for the next event in Heidenheim Germany.
But, it is not my present situation that I wish to draw your attention too but my past. Through my teenage years I was not good enough to be a part of the British Team, I did not get the chance to compete at U17 and U20 level. In spite of this, I worked hard to achieve my goal of representing my country, this happened in 2016 as well as becoming University National Champion that year. If there was any reason to sponsor me, I believe my past demonstrates that. Starting so far behind my team-mates who were gaining experience at World Cups, I was able to overcome that and develop myself as an athlete so at 21, I was able to join them at the highest level. As unlikely as it was, I worked hard to ensure my vision of myself turned into a reality.
At this moment I am entirely self-funded, currently training and competing through a combination of long term saving and a 0 hours contract in Retail in order to pay. Your donation today will go a long way towards helping me to travel and compete.
