My athletic goal is:
My dream is to compete for Great Britain in the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan, to achieve this I first have to qualify for the U23 European and World Championships 2015.
First, to get to the European Championships and represent Great Britain, I need to attend the April and May National Regattas as they are a stepping stone in my journey to enable me to have the practice in racing conditions to provide me with the best opportunity to reach qualifying times at the National Selection Regattas at the beginning of June and July.
The first regatta is on the 11/12th April. 9/10th May. 6/7th June and finally the most important selection regatta - July 4/5th which will decide who will go on to compete at the European and World Sprint Championships later on in the year.
I will be using the funds for:
Sprint Canoeing is an international renowned sport which is heavily competed in across Europe and America making this a highly expensive sport in all the travel, equipment and competition fees. Any contributions would help me get to the World Championships in July 2015.
With winter training fully underway, the poor weather has hampered my training schedule where 1 in 3 of my sessions are re-scheduled or cancelled just due to the weather conditions. Getting an indoor canoe ergo is essential in ensuring i can train as much as I can throughout the winter months which costs about £1800.
Although expensive, it is an essential piece of equipment to ensure I maintain a high volume of training during the winter that would last for many years. in the future so wherever I go, I can still train and hope for that Olympic Dream in 2020. Although this equipment would be used by myself, I would also be able to help coach others who are interested in learning the sport of high kneel canoe at my local canoe club.
Your contribution means:
I will be forever grateful for any contribution, however small, as it will bring me one step closer to my dream of representing Great Britain at a major International European or World Championship which I hope to make into a reality.
This will be of such immense help because women's canoe is a minority sport in Britain so their are fewer chances for both coaching and funding across the country. As a part of the Super Regional Squad for England I travel to Dorney, London (1.5 hours away) twice a month with trips to Nottingham (3.5 hours away) every couple of months in the winter and every month in the summer. Any help given will be recognised through social media as a thank you to those who have supported me.
Also, where sponsors are concerned, I can wear their logo/brand name on some team kit at competitions and training but also to promote company sponsors I can promote them through stickers of their logo on my canoe which I use in both competition and training.
