Biography
I am Ihipera Mackey and I have been involved in Martial Arts all my life. I had my first Muaythai fight when I was 13 years old and from that point on I have never looked back. Not only do I train but I also coach local juniors aged 5 years to 13 years.
- I am currently in the Tairawhiti Rising Legends
programme which is an initiative aimed at recognising, acknowledging and
supporting the development of talented young athletes.
- My biggest accomplishment was winning a Bronze medal at the 2014 IFMA World Games. To represent my country is the best feeling ever.
- My dream is to become a Gold Medalist at the 2015 IFMA World Cup and also train my up and coming fighters to do the same. By instilling the dream early into our junior fighters is whats going to keep MY sport, OUR sport alive.
- I am in my final year of High School, and the biggest obstacle for me is to reach my goal by getting entry into University to study Health Science as well as pushing myself 100% to achieve my athletic goal of bringing home a GOLD medal. Working hard to accomplish my academic goals and to also give 100% to training is what I am striving for.
