Biography
Joanna Guy was born in Poland, raised in Toronto, Canada and trains in New York City. She has been fencing for 16 years and represented the Canadian National Team for over 10 years now where her favorite fencing memory to date is winning her first medal at a Junior World Cup event and finishing 15th at the World Championships. Joanna very quickly developed into an internationally competitive fencer. Inspired by her parents (both professional volleyball players), her strongest motivators are winning and her love of hard work. With a recent amazing result at the World Championships in Budapest (August 2013) of placing 15th and World Combat Games of placing 13th, Joanna is thrilled to start the Olympic qualifiers with a bang!
Joanna attended St. John’s University on a full scholarship, during which time she was Team Manager and named All-American, and finishing her BA in Graphic Design. She continues to advance her ambitions in the field of graphic design part-time while pursuing her Olympic dreams full-time. Medaling at the Olympics remains Joanna’s ultimate goal.
