Biography
I am a National Finswimmer in Singapore that has been in the team since 2019 and am gunning towards multiple World Cups/Championships throughout each year of the season and Major Games such as Southeast Asian Games that is a bi-annual event. What is Finswimming you might ask ? In very simple terms, I like to explain it as a competitive mermaid. The whole point of the sport is to maintain utmost streamline position to cut through the waters as fast as possible with the help of our fins.
Finswimming takes place in both pools & open water, it carries 4 different disciplines, Apnea (Underwater 50m monofin with no breath), Surface (Snorkel & Monofin), Immersion (Oxygen canister & Monofin) & Bi-fins (Snorkel & Flippers/Bi-fins) ranging from 50m to 3000m!
My sport is not yet in the Olympic or Asian games, but we have the World Games that carry sports are not contested in the Olympics. I love the sport as it gives me a kind of thrill while gliding through the waters that no other sport is able to bring me.
Fun fact: The world record for a 50m Apnea is 13.70s while the fastest timing for butterfly in 23.68 swimming, a whopping 10 seconds difference!
I am working towards the bi-annual games, Southeast Asian(SEA) Games 2025(Bangkok), 2027(Malaysia) & 2029(Singapore, my country's very own host year!). There will also be many World Cup/Championships as such throughout each season. There is also the bi-annual FISU World University Games but I would have to plan each of my season accordingly.
This site was created to help fund my journey as a National Athlete representing Singapore as I am self-funded outside of Major Games eg. SEA Games where my National Olympic Council will only fund. I hope to be able to receive monetary support from you guys as my equipments & competitions are costly. Supporting me will provide the above of my dreams to come true.
