I am 30 years old. I tried and quit judo as a kid but found myself back on the mat 8 years ago. When I am not working my 40+ hour a work week job, I am on the mat training towards my goal of competing internationally for team USA.
I have received many medals over the years but my biggest accomplishments from judo have not come on the mat. They came in the moments of recovery from each of my ACL surgeries, when I was faced with the dilemma of quitting on myself or working harder than ever to achieve my goals. They come every morning at 5am when my alarm goes off and I want to snooze, but I know that I need to get in training prior to my work day. Self confidence, lessons of endurance & determination, not quitting on yourself, pushing through plateaus, the need for supportive people in life...these are the biggest lessons & internal accomplishments that judo has brought into my life.
