Biography

I started Powerlifting at the age of 45 just about 6 years ago. Since then i have set or broken records in 3 different states (Idaho, Washington, and Oregon), I also hold the American Records for my age/weight class for all 3 lifts (squat, bench and deadlift) as well as the record for Total. This year I also broke/set World records for squat and bench for my age/weight class.

Since I started lifting I have had a few bumps in the road. I fell and tore the ligaments from my lower leg, breaking the leg and requiring it to be pinned together at the ankle for several months, right after that I underwent total hip replacement surgery. I came back 8 months later and started increasing my numbers again. Then in an unfortunate accident 7 months after returning,  my hand got caught up in some equipment and severed my thumb nearly completely off. It was reconstructed, and  I was not allowed to lift heavy for about 4 more months for fear of losing the thumb altogether. Last year on the road to Nationals I suffered a meniscal tear and some collateral ligament damage, that had me using crutches one month out. I pressed on, made it to  USAPL (USA Powerlifiting) Raw Nationals and ended up breaking all 4 records in my age/weight class.

I made my son a promise and set a goal of making it to World level competition and coming home a champion, I intend to keep that promise. I currently work two jobs, a full 80 hours a week and train another 12 or so hours on top of that in order to achieve this goal and fulfill my promise to myself and my son.
