The Fight For LA2028 Paralympics
My name is Daniel and I'm currently training to qualify for the LA2028 Paralympic Games! Being born with brittle bones and breaking them all too easily, I wouldn't have imagined a world where I could do sports. Despite this, my dream is to one day compete in the Paralympic Games. I've been pursuing this dream for a few years, initially through wheelchair racing, and now, transitioning to WHEELCHAIR FENCING. I'm officially embarking on a journey in a new sport, with the same goal of representing Malaysia in the Paralympic Games.
A key goal for this crowdfunding campaign is to prepare me for my FIRST international tournament this year! The first potential tournament is in APRIL 2025 at the Hong Kong Wheelchair Fencing Satellite Tournament. But I will be aiming for 3-4 tournaments this year.
I'm currently raising funds to purchase my own competition grade equipment (not including the specialized wheelchair). Your support will make it possible for me to finally debut as a wheelchair fencer. This is my best chance to qualify for the Paralympics and I won't be able to do it without your support!
I will be aiming to compete in FOUR international tournaments in 2025. The four tournaments I will be aiming for in 2025 are :
1. Wheelchair Fencing Satellite Tournament (Hong Kong, 12-13 Apr 2025)
2. Wheelchair Fencing World Championships (South Korea, 2-7 Sep 2025)
3. World AbilitySport Games (Indonesia, 10-21 Sep 2025)
4. Wheelchair Fencing World Cup (Thailand, 20-23 Nov 2025)
This is the an AMBITIOUS goal and I hope that you will come along and support me in this journey. One of the ways for me to qualify for LA2028 is to rank TOP 8 in the Asian Games in 2026. I have less than 2 years to fight my way to top 8 in Asia. Your support will mean a tremendous amount in this pivotal moment.
Below is a quotation for the current list of equipment I need (in Malaysian currency) , not including the specialized wheelchair. Any remaining funds will go to upkeep, maintenance and purchase of extra blades or equipment due to wear and tear (and any transactional fees in getting the funds).
