My name is Brock Hoel and I am 18 years old. When I was 9 years old I said “I’m going to go to the Olympics.” I didn’t know what sport it would be in but I knew I would go. I had zero doubt in my mind, because I was willing to work as hard as I could to get there . After that I discovered my passion for swimming, biking and running and at the age of 11 I decided I wanted to be a Triathlete. Now, after 8 years of training 20 + hours every week, up to 45 hours at training camps, so much investment and so much sacrifice, I have a legitimate shot at my first Olympic team at the Tokyo 2020 games. 2 years ago I began to have to travel to larger competitions. Being one of three kids in my family, Money has always been tough as my parents tried to give us equal opportunities. I started working at the bike shop the next summer and this last year managed to juggle 30hours of training/week, 2 days of construction/week, 1 day at the bike shop/week and finishing grade 12 high school. I had to work in order to pay for competitions I was expected to attend at my level. Despite being so tired some days that I literally had to drag myself out of bed to go to work, pulled it off, and managed to win the Pan Am Junior Championship in Monterey Mexico, Junior National Championships, come 2nd U23 National champs, and 7th at the Junior Natinonal Championships in Lausanne Switzerland going into the race ranked #1 in the world.
Triathlon has been my life and my passion. In 2020 I want to be able to prove to myself and all the people who told me I couldn’t do it, that Brock Hoel is going to be world champion one day. I’m not a cocky person, but I believe that I need to believe in myself in order to succeed and surpass my goals.
Sponsors haven’t seemed to notice me yet, I think because of my age, and therefore I have been managing the physical stress of working physical jobs on top of the already extreme training I put myself through daily. To be able to train without the stress of money would be absolutely incredible and increase my chances of the Olympics so much. If you feel like supporting me even a little bit towards some of my expenses for flights, food, accommodations, gear etc. I would be forever forever grateful. You would be helping me start this next chapter of my life as I reach for the stars and train to be the very very best in the world. Please be a part of my journey. From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you,
Cheers,
Brock
