I love gymnastics. I have since we started going on field trips to the KGTC in kindergarten, even though we were doing the easiest and simplest of skills. In grade one, I started recreational gymnastics. I liked this a lot and kept moving into more advanced classes until I was in Advanced Rec 4, and trained four hours a week. That year, I noticed that some of the girls in my class stayed half an hour later than the rest of us. I had no idea what they were doing and asked my coach about it. She told me that they were practising for Gymnaestrada and explained that it was a big group performance. I thought that it sounded a lot more fun than doing individual routines, so the next year, I joined. That year was Western Gymnaestrada in Nanaimo. I had never been to Vancouver Island, and I was very, very, excited. We got there and performed really well. I thought that it was the coolest thing I had ever done. We were all so excited when we found out that we had been invited to perform at Canadian Gymnaestrada, and had a chance at Worlds after that. I had so much fun at Canadian Gymnaestrada and I'm sure I'll have even more fun in Helsinki, Finland, at World Gymnaestrada 2015. I'm so happy that I have this chance, and I'm so proud to have gotten this far with my team!

Attending any National or International sporting event comes at a cost ... $4000 per athlete to be exact! Registration fees will be $1600 - $1800, travel expenses $2000 and another $200- $400 will be needed for food and special events not covered in the registration fees.

It takes a community to raise an athlete, and we have 10! Having the support of friends, family, the sporting community and others will really help our team achieve their dreams and goals. They will be forever grateful and will undoubtedly be able to bring home new experiences to share within our own community.
