Gymnastics, although being one of the world's most popular sports, is very under-developed in Mauritius. Since the early 2000s, the Sly Ninjas Gymnastics Club (SNG) has been toiling to develop the sports in Mauritius but the difficulties are countless, ranging from financial and infrastructural issues to lack of support from authorities. The SNG Club and the freshly established gymnastics federation in Mauritius have been devoting much of its time and have put immense efforts in creating other clubs in different regions in Mauritius. So far, we have more than 300 children and youth training gymnastics, we have organized more than 15 gymnastics competitions and we have been able to purchase different gymnastics equipment. After so much efforts in the field, we have produced outstanding gymnasts and we want to participate for our very first time in an international gymnastics competition. The opportunity we have before us is the Scalabis Cup 2016 which will be held in Portugal. We are planning to send a team of 3 gymnasts and a coach to take part in this international event and we are sure to gain invaluable experience at this competition which will further enable us to develop gymnastics in Mauritius. The cost for one participant is estimated to amount to EUR 1,250 (including air ticket and accommodation).
