My name is Tomas Casas, I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I began racing motorcycles at the age of 4 years old and competing since 6 years old. From 2006 to 2008 I won several races and championships in the motocross series in Colombia, including two runner ups in a Latin American mini-cross championships.
In 2011 I re-started my racing career only this time in Road Racing, in my adoptive Country Canada. I started off in the regional series and then in 2012 made my way to the national series, in the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK). Since then I have won two national championships, the HondaCBR250 (lowest class) and the Amateur Sport Bike championship, the next step up the ladder. This 2015 season was my first in the pro rankings, it was very challenging since I am the youngest in the class and the riders have so much experience, I competed in the Pro Sport Bike class (600cc machines) and Pro Superbike class (1000cc machines), my main focus was the Sport Bike class considering I have a 600cc motorcycle. As the season went I got stronger and stronger every race, I obtained my first podium (with a 3rd place) at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton. In the last few races of the championship, I ran the pace of the top riders, unfortunately I had some bike problems in the last round, which kept me from doing my best. Over all the season went really well for my first pro year, I am extremely happy with my performance. I finished 5th in the SportBike class and 7th in the Superbike class, while obtaining the Pro Rookie of the year award!
It has not been easy, motorcycle racing is very demanding, both physically and mentally. As a 16 year old my life is not like most, I have to make many sacrifices in order to keep on racing, I spend my spare time exercising, working and collecting alcohol bottles in order to save up for my racing. I'm lucky to have the support of my family and many other wonderful people, however as I move up the ladder it gets more and more expensive. I know I have the potential to make it to the world championship (MotoGP), but I need the financial support to keep the dream alive!
