I am William Coney, a canoe slalom athlete from Wales. I have been competing in canoe slalom since I was 12 years old. Over the past 6 years, I have competed in the C1M (male Canadian singles) event and have gone from Division 4 to 6th senior in the Premier Division.
My main achievements have been racing at the Junior World and European championships and medaling in the team event (Bronze Euros 2014). I have been on the GB team for the last 2 years. Racing in Macedonia and Brazil.
Moving into U23 category.
This season is my last season as a under 18 and next year I move into the under 23 age group category. This September I'm also moving to Nottingham to study sport science and train at the National White Water Sports Centre.
My long-term goal is to dominate the sport as a senior athlete on the world stage and be Olympic Champion. In the short term, however, I aim to get selected for the U23 team next spring and race at the U23 World and European championships.
