Biographie
Hi,
My name is Mika Sternberg, and I am a Junior at Palisades High School and a competitive sailor.
I started sailing in Israel at the age of 9 in the Optimist boat and moved to Los Angeles in November 2017 as part of my family’s relocation. Sailing helped me overcome the challenges of a new country and a new language. This was my way of blending in, which reached its first highlight in 2019 when I was invited to join the USA Opti Olympic development team.
As a sailor, I participated in many international and national competitions. I have been sailing for 9 years and have reached achievements in various fleets, such as:
• I won the Israeli national championships in Optimist in 2016.
• I won 3rd place overall and 1st girl, at the Carrie series in 2020.
• I was ranked Top Laser 4.7 sailor, in the west coast in 2021.
• I qualified for the Laser 4.7 worlds in 2021 in Ireland.
• I have Re-founded and was assigned as team captain of the Palisades high school CFJ team where we sail our way from being rank at 58th place to 11th place over all in one session!
This year I started to sail on the i420 with the coach Udi Gal and the HPC team in paralel to my sailing with Delray YC.
This year I was invited to join team USA and will be competing this summer at the
2022 420 Junior European Championships
