Eu criei esta campanha porque:
Hi everyone, my name is Ken Leung. I am 21 years old and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple belt from Hong Kong. And I am going to compete in World Jiu Jitsu Championship at the end of May 2015 and looking for financial support. I have trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for roughly 5 years . I started in a Gym and currently train on a rooftop in Hong Kong which is kind of like an old Kung Fu movie.
It is actually an old building, like over 50 years old, located on the Kowloon side (Shum Shui Po) of Hong Kong. It is my good friend's home rooftop, we bought mats from China, and store it just behind the iron door of the rooftop (just to get rid of some cats, who will jump on the mats and scratch them). And in Summer time, we have 1 fan for the whole mat area, and we regularly have at least 4 people training together. The mat area is around 4m x 5m (roughly), so 2 pairs rolling together is the maximum capacity.
It is very Chinese Kung Fu movie style. It is a no facility rooftop, only mats, and no washroom, so we have to utilise the water pipe to wet our towel to clean our sweat before leaving the rooftop every time after training. Before we can train on the rooftop, please note since it is an old building, there is no lift have been installed, we have to walk the stairs for 9 floors, walk through my friend's home to the back door, and walk 1 more floor until arrive rooftop, it is quite a warm up for us before we arrive the rooftop.
We train on rooftop because our old gym (I really don't want to name it) is a place that not very open minded, wants everyone follow one training style, and if we would like to train in other styles, or training with someone out of the gym, they will send us a message that it is wrong, it is a betrayal of the gym. That is why we leave the gym and would like to create a place for us to training together, and sometimes we invite other gym's members to come to rooftop to train with us, although it is really very tough for the people living in the city that have to walk stairs for 10 floors in total. But, it is a place that we can train whomever we want to train with, no politics, we share techniques, no money problem, and we don't belong to any other gym in Hong Kong.
We have registered "Rooftop BJJ" in Hong Kong as an official organization in Hong Kong (register through Government Department), and the gym will be affiliated under BJJ Globetrotters, and Christian Graugart will be the sensei for Rooftop BJJ members. Hopefully we can get more people to train BJJ and introduce it to the public.
I competed in several International BJJ Competitions (2014 World Championship, 2014 American Jiu Jitsu Championship, 2010 & 2011 Taiwan International Jiu Jitsu Open, 2010 Shanghai Jiu Jitsu Open, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013 Hong Kong Jiu Jitsu Open)
I won few gold metals in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shanghai Open and Bronze in American Jiu Jitsu Championship.
To achieve my goal will not be easy and it is definitely not cheap. I need to travel to Los Angeles to compete at the 2015 World Championship. This trip will cost me $3000 and currently, I am not able to afford it. With your support I will be able to travel to USA, compete and bring the Gold Metal home and let more people know about this martial art.
Eu utilizarei os fundos para:
- My round trip plane ticket
- Competition registration fee
- Hotel, food and transportation for 2 weeks
- 2 weeks training fee at Bjj Academy in Los Angeles
Seu apoio significa:
Without your help I will not be able to afford to compete at this competition. Unable to compete will set me further back from achieving my goal. Supporting me on this campaign will enable me to focus on my training rather than the finances. With your help, I will be able to represent you at the 2015 World Jiu Jitsu Championship, stronger and better than ever.”
