Once only in my dream, I have now find a horse that sets for my realistic goal of competiting in a high-level Hunter division. Specifically, be invited to the 2015 Royal Winter Fair in the Amateur Hunter Division to represent Quebec province.
I was born in St-Donat, Quebec in 1984 and moved to the South Shore of Montreal for work in 2000. I have been involved in competitive equestrian sports for 10 years, primarily in the hunter and equitation ring. I had worked extremely hard to be able to train young horses as an amateur rider and bring them to the competition, that I enjoyed. In 2013, Marie-Claire Savard brang a once in a life opportunity to buy a «winner», well knowed, horse. Leroy, a 13 years old Canadian Sport Horse, is amazing. We are currently participating in the Adult Amateur division, and are always on the first top ribbons. Leroy won the AERL Championship award in the Amateur Hunter in 2014.
My trainer, Marie-Claire Savard, is certified level 3 in hunter/jumper coaching and won both Provincial and National 2013 «Coach of the Year» award. I also trained with Denis lefebvre, Christine Boisseau, Diane Dubuc, Denys Casavant. In the past, I participated as a junior rider to the regional circuit with rent horses in equitation and medal classes with really good results. I won the «Jeux du Québec» Silver medal in the Junior A Equitation division in 2000. As an adult rider, I participated on the «A circuit» with a very successfull horse, Seabreeze, owned by Lucie Gagnon, and won about all the adult hunter classes.I do however, come from a middle-class family.
My family is committed to help me attain my competitive riding goals, but the family alone cannot meet the continuing financial requirements of the sport. I have understood from a very young age the costs involved in continuing with my sport and the level of sacrifice that have to me made made to support my passion and goals. I work full time as a Marketing Coordinator at Imprimerie Pub Cité, and have about 65% of my annual revenu budget for Equestrian. I had reached an high level of competition with very frugal means and hopes to share my passion of Equestrian with my future financial supporters.
About Leroy HB
No equestrian rider can achieve greatness without the trust and support of a talented horse. I am extremely fortunate to have Leroy, a Quebec Breeded guelding of 13 years old. Leroy was breeded by «Haras de Beaupré» and is out of Lestroy. He is a big guelding of 17 hands with high-end movement and an extraordinar jumping technique. He is approuved Canadian Sport Horse. He is a real amateur horse; not spook, easy going and knows his job and how to make her rider happy. I own him since 2013. Leroy was bought at 3 years old by Ann Hodgson and trained by Chris Gahan, who rode him in the 3’6” Combined hunter. He now stays at Centre Equestre des Laurentides and is trained by Marie-Claire Savard. In 2014 we competed in the regional circuit of Laurentians (AERL) in the Amateur hunter (3’) with very good results. Leroy won almost every jumping class and won the annual Championship award. We also competed in one A Circuit competition, where we won a class over 25 horses in the Amateur Hunter 18 – 35 yo.
Every judges likes Leroy’s attitude, movement and technique. Everybody turns their head when Leroy’s there !
